Bulls Defeat Lions

HAUPPAUGE N.Y. (LISN) – The Smithtown-Hauppauge Bulls (9-1) cruised to a 12-0 victory over the West Islip Lions (3-7).

Junior Brendan Power scored his first career varsity goal.

Senior Shane Reidy netted a hat-trick.

Senior R.J. Pfister scored twice and added an assist.

Junior Jack Pring picked up his second shutout victory through three starts.

Junior Colin Hovanec started his fifth game of the season for West Islip.

19 seconds into the opening stanza Senior Gavin Bareham scored the eventual game winner to make it 1-0. The senior redirected a shot by Sophomore Aidan Landrigan past Hovanec.

Senior Shane Reidy doubled the Bulls lead with 9:32 left in the 1st period. Senior Jackson Cantalupo entered the zone two on one before threading the needle on a pass to the streaking Reidy who redirected it home.

Cantalupo netted a breakaway goal to make it 3-0 with 8:03 remaining in the opening stanza.

Senior R.J. Pfister scored with 57 seconds to go in the first frame to put Smithtown-Hauppauge up 4-0.

Pfister potted his second of the night on a long shot to snipe top shelf with 10:49 left in the 2nd period.

Junior Dean Falcone rifled one home on a shot from the slot with 8:49 remaining in the second stanza.

Reidy netted his second of the night with 13:46 to go in the third stanza frame.

36 seconds later Power walked the line and fired it home on a shot from the point to make it 8-0.

Reidy completed the hat-trick on a backhand tap in with 7:10 left in the final frame.

25 seconds later Junior Brayden Beltrani scored for Smithtown-Hauppauge.

Senior Michael Wagner scored with 4:20 remaining in the 3rd period.

Senior David Wetzel scored with 2:00 to go in regulation to make it 12-0.

Upcoming Schedule

The West Islip Lions (3-7) take on the Northport-Huntington Tigers (3-6) on Monday, November 25 at 8:10 pm. The Tigers defeated the Lions 7-5 earlier in the year, but are currently on a five game losing streak.

The Smithtown-Hauppauge Bulls (9-1) face off against the Connetquot-Sayville T-Birds (2-8) on Sunday, November 24 at 7:50 pm. The Bulls defeated the T-Birds 7-2 earlier in the season. Smithtown-Hauppauge has won two straight games against Connetquot-Sayville since a 2-1 upset loss last November.
