Arran Elderslie B Edges Wallace 4-3 in Tournament Thriller at Tara Community Centre
Arran Elderslie B captured a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Wallace in NYIHSHL tournament action Saturday night at Tara Community Centre Rink #1, with the game-winning goal coming at 6:02 of the third period to cap off a back-and-forth battle that saw seven different goal scorers find the net.
The contest remained deadlocked through the opening frame at 1-1, but Arran Elderslie B seized control in the second period with a pair of quick strikes just 45 seconds apart. Goals at 6:02 and 5:17 gave the home side a 3-2 advantage heading into the final stanza, setting up a dramatic finish that would see both teams trade tallies before Arran Elderslie B’s decisive third-period marker.
Liam Gowan orchestrated the offensive attack for Arran Elderslie B, distributing four assists to lead all players in scoring without finding the back of the net himself. The balanced scoring effort saw four different teammates convert his feeds, including Lucas Nickel, Hannah Hammell, Max Hatten, and Rory Gowan, each finishing with multi-point performances. Nickel, Hammell, and Hatten each contributed a goal and an assist, while Rory Gowan added the crucial game-winner.
Wallace mounted a spirited comeback attempt behind Alton Stirling’s two-goal performance, including the third-period tally that pulled his team within one at 9:41. Seth Siebring also found the scoresheet with a goal, while Eastyn Morrison and Kaylee Martin each registered assists in the losing effort.
The tournament victory moves Arran Elderslie B forward in bracket play, while Wallace will look to regroup after falling just short in what proved to be an entertaining showcase of offensive hockey at the Tara Community Centre.
