KPC Blows By WI

HAUPPAUGE N.Y. (LISN) — Senior Ronny Kemly had five assists, Jesse Lemza netted a hat-trick, and eight player scored for the Kings Park-Commack Knights (2-1) in a 10-4 victory over the West Islip Lions (0-3). The Lions Captain, Senior Ciaran Pollard, created multiple breakaway opportunities in a four goal performance. The West Islip star could’ve scored even more, but Senior Jayson Krauthamer kept the puck in front of him more often than not in his second win through as many starts. Sophomore Tyler Sapoff had another solid start for West Islip, but KPC was able to cash in on second and third chances.

The Knights captain, Senior Jesse Lemza, potted his second of the campaign with 9:35 remaining in the 1st period to make it 1-0 Kings Park-Commack. The initial shot from Kemly was turned aside, but the rebound popped out in the slot and Lemza buried it.

Senior Jack Salva scored his fourth of the season with 7:24 left in the first frame to extend the KPC lead. Junior Ryan Flynn won a puck battle in the left wing corner before moving it to Salva, who shot it over the shoulder of Sapoff.

Lemza netted his third of the season to make it 3-0 with 4:17 remaining in the opening period. Senior Brian Prange’s shot rang off the boards, Kemly scooped it up as he carried it behind the net and moved it to Lemza who beat Sapoff as he slid right-to-left.

Flynn scored his first career varsity goal with 10:18 left in the second stanza. Salva carried it into the zone on a three on one before dishing it to Flynn, who buried his own rebound after being stoned by Sapoff.

Pollard, put the Lions on the board just 35 seconds later. Pollard forced a turnover, blew by the defense, and went forehand-backhand to beat Krauthamer.

Under a minute later, Junior Francesco Delio his second of the season, the eventual game winning goal, to make it 5-1 Kings Park-Commack. The Knights forced a turnover, Delio won the race to the puck and came in on a breakaway before beating Sapoff on a perfectly placed shot.

33 seconds later, Junior Maximus Hludzinski scored to give the Knights a 6-1 lead. Hludzinski blew by the defense and went blocker side from the inside the right wing circle.

Pollard scored his second of the game with 6:26 left in the second frame to make it 6-2. Pollard went five-hole from the left wing dot after a quick fake.

Just under a minute later, Junior Jackson Ciofrone netted his first career varsity goal to bring the lead back to five. Ciofrone won a battle in the corner, cut towards the left wing dot, and fired a shot through a screen that beat Sapoff stick side high.

Pollard completed the hat-trick to make it a 7-3. The Lions Captain slipped past the defense, received a feed from Senior Nicholas Perpall, and went forehand-backhand.

Senior Franco Justinic netted his second of the season with 14:25 to go in the 3rd period. Justinic collected the puck off the boards and buried it as Sapoff slid left-to-right after the Knights could not capitalize on the initial three on one.

Lemza completed the hat-trick to give the Knights a six goal lead with 11:14 left in the third stanza. Lemza buried the rebound after Sapoff made the first stop.

With 7:01 left in the final period, Senior Greg Galgano made it 10-3 Kings Park-Commack. Galgano beat the netminder on a one-timer through traffic from beneath the right wing dot.

Pollard netted his fourth and final goal of the game to make it 10-4. Pollard slipped between three defenders, before beating Krauthamer on a beautiful toe-drag shot.
