Daniel Sorkin lit the lamp twice in a three point performance as the RVC Hewlett Cyclones (10-4-0-1) won 6-1 over the Cold Spring Harbor Seahawks (8-5-0-2). The Cyclones are now set to advance to the NYIHSHL playoffs. John Schmidt made 24 saves including 12 in the second period for the Cyclones. Jake Panetta made his 13th start of the season for the Cold Spring Harbor Seahawks.

The Cyclones jumped out to a 1-0 lead with 4:56 gone by in the first frame courtesy of Owen Finegan. Nick Johnson fired a shot that led to Finegan cashing in on a rebound.

Benny Binianim fired a shot from the point to score the eventual game winner on the power play with 5:17 gone by in the second stanza. Trevor Steele went coast-to-coast on the power play to put the Seahawks on the board with 8:11 gone by in the 2nd period. Nick Johnson appeared to put the Cyclones back by two with 9:04 gone by in the frame, but officials deemed the play offsides so no goal was awarded on the play. 56 seconds later Daniel Sorkin scored to give RVC a 3-1 lead. Sorkin came in 2 on 1 in transition and sniped stick side high on a shot from the right wing face off dot.

Daniel Sorkin put the biscuit in the basket with 9:24 gone by in the 3rd period. Maxim Torkiver made a pass off the cycle to Sorkin who went top shelf for his second of the game. Ryan Weinman pulled the trigger on a shot from the right wing dot off a pass from Sorkin to put the Cyclones up 5-1 with 11:58 gone by in the final frame. Nick Johnson found the back of the net on a shot that beat Panetta stick side with 14:03 gone by in the frame to secure the 6-1 win for RVC.

Cyclones forward Benny Biniamin was assessed a two game suspension for fighting in the final frame of the game. Seahawks defenseman Daniel Tarashansky was assessed a two game suspension for fighting as well as a one game suspension for head contact and an additional one game suspension for four penalties in a match which will carry over to next season. The RVC Hewlett Cyclones were without Jason Rick, who has 26 points in 11 games this season, as well as Matt Regan who has 16 points in 11 games. The Cyclones ability to win this weekend could hinge on Rick and Regan returning to the lineup.
