Luke Ferazi delivered a masterful performance with four points, leading Farmingdale State to a dramatic 4-3 playoff victory over Fordham at Islanders Iceworks on Sunday. The senior forward, who entered the game with 43 points in 20 games, recorded one goal and three assists to spearhead the Rams’ attack in a game that remained scoreless through regulation before exploding in the extra frame.
After a defensive battle that saw both teams locked in a 0-0 stalemate through three periods, the playoff intensity reached its peak in overtime. Pandelis Tursi was stellar between the pipes for Farmingdale State, stopping 29 of 32 shots to outduel Fordham’s Daniel Gerts, who made 28 saves on 32 attempts. The goaltending showcase kept fans on edge as neither team could break through during 60 minutes of regulation play.
When the goals finally came, they came in bunches. Luke LaFata, Donald Pace, and Joseph Castellano each found the back of the net for the Rams, with Ian Ribarich adding two assists to complement Ferazi’s offensive explosion. Farmingdale State’s balanced attack proved too much for Fordham, despite the home team’s valiant effort in front of their own crowd.
The victory completed a season sweep for Farmingdale State, which had previously defeated Fordham 4-1 in October before dropping a narrow 4-3 decision in February. With the playoff win, the 19-9 Rams advance in the ACHA M3 tournament, ending Fordham’s impressive 16-6 season and keeping their championship hopes alive.
