Logan McCauley orchestrated a masterful offensive display, recording five assists to power St. Anthony’s Freshman to a commanding 9-3 victory over Sachem Freshman on Monday night at South. The dynamic forward, who entered the game with 25 points in 13 games, distributed the puck with precision throughout the contest, setting up goals in all three periods to help the Friars improve to 13-2 on the season.
St. Anthony’s seized control early with a dominant first period, scoring four times to build a 4-1 advantage. After Nicholas Oppedisano opened the scoring for Sachem at 13:46, the Friars responded with four unanswered goals. Francesco Mannino tied it at 12:19 with McCauley picking up his first assist, followed by Nicholas Neuner‘s even-strength strike at 4:44. Charles Sallese extended the lead with McCauley’s second helper before Nicholas Tizzano capped the opening frame with the game-winner at 1:58.
The second period saw Sachem attempt to mount a comeback, with Dylan Mazal and Chase Gandolfo finding the net to cut the deficit to 5-3. However, Jake Evans answered for St. Anthony’s at 12:33, with McCauley again providing the assist to maintain breathing room heading into the final frame. The Friars put the game away with four third-period goals, including a power-play tally by Reginald Henry III and a short-handed strike by Neuner, both assisted by the relentless McCauley.
Tizzano and Neuner each finished with three points, combining for four goals and two assists, while Henry III added a goal and assist in the balanced offensive attack. The victory marked St. Anthony’s second win over Sachem this season, having previously defeated them 5-2 in November, and kept the Friars firmly in contention atop the SCHSHL standings with their impressive 13-2 record.
