Anthony Rosa and Michael Madera delivered spectacular performances Saturday night, each recording hat tricks and six-point games to power the University of New Haven to a dominant 12-5 victory over Sacred Heart University’s ACDC B squad at Northford Ice Pavilion. The offensive explosion marked a statement win for New Haven (10-7), who entered the contest riding Rosa’s torrid pace of 52 points in 20 games and Madera’s 43 points in 17 contests.

Rosa, who had been averaging 2.6 points per game coming into the night, extended his remarkable season with three goals and three assists. The prolific scorer’s six-point performance highlighted his consistency as New Haven’s offensive catalyst. Madera matched Rosa’s output exactly, netting his own hat trick while adding three helpers for his second-highest scoring night of the campaign. The duo’s combined 12 points powered an attack that saw nine different Chargers find the scoresheet.

The offensive onslaught didn’t stop with the headliners, as Brady Tomassi, Evan Fassett, and Jimmy Brady each contributed three-point nights of their own. Tomassi recorded a goal and two assists, building on his strong 11 points in just six games this season. Fassett and Brady, who entered with 18 and 21 points respectively, each added a goal and two assists to the barrage. Brady Price chipped in a goal and an assist, while Luca Minopoli rounded out the goal-scoring parade.

Sacred Heart’s ACDC B team, playing just their second game of the season after an 0-1 start, found themselves overwhelmed by New Haven’s relentless attack. The 17 total goals combined for one of the highest-scoring affairs in recent MCHC play, with New Haven’s balanced scoring attack proving too much for the Pioneers to contain. The victory marked an impressive bounce-back performance for the Chargers, who used the offensive showcase to build momentum heading deeper into conference play.
