HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. — In what could be his final game as team captain, Senior Ciaran Pollard scored four times to lead the West Islip Lions (5-14-1) to a 5-2 victory over Northport/Huntington (8-12-0) on Senior Night.

Sophomore James Barbieri tallied one goal and three assists in the win.

Junior Colin Hovanec backstopped West Islip to victory.

Junior Ayden Shear and Senior Jacob Guzzardo each scored for Northport/Huntington.

Junior Brett Kostor started in goal for Northport/Huntington.

Shear opened the scoring at 4:43 of the 1st period with his first goal of the game. The junior drove to the net, taking two shots that were stopped before burying the rebound.

Pollard tied the game at 2:44 of the 1st period with his first goal of the game. The Lions captain split the defense before sniping top shelf.

Pollard struck again at 14:08 of the 2nd period, giving West Islip a 2-1 lead. The senior start danced around one defender before rifling it stick side high.

Pollard completed the natural hat-trick at 10:35 of the 2nd period, his third goal in a span of 7:09. The senior captain walked in and ripped stick side. –

Barbieri srifled home a shot from the point to make it 4-1 at 5:23 in the second stanza.

Guzzardo sniped glove side on a shot from the point to cut the deficit to two at 1:41 of the 2nd period.

Pollard capped the scoring at 14:06 of the 3rd period with his fourth goal of the game. The captain buried a rebound off a shot from Senior James Mattel.
