Landrigan Spoils Sachem’s Senior Night

Brendan Landrigan completed the hat-trick as the Smithtown Hauppauge Bulls  (12-4-3-1) won 7-2 to spoil Senior Night for Sachem (13-5-1-1). Patrick Ryan backstopped the Bulls to victory in his second consecutive start. Michael DiGirolamo made his league-leading 14th start of the season for Sachem. 

Brendan Landrigan scored the go-ahead goal with 13:09 remaining in the 1st period. Patrick Ryan made a blocker save, R.J. Pfister pounced on the loose puck before charging up ice and handing it off to Landrigan who sniped stick side high. 46 seconds later the Bulls jumped out to a 2-0 lead courtesy of Max Campo. J.P. Dallessandro fired a one-time clapper that Campo batted out of midair and into the net. A scuffle that broke out with 8:52 remaining led to Smithtown Hauppauge’s Michael Arnoni and Andre McGraime as well as Sachem’s Nyckie Ress and Joe Wandling all being assessed five minute majors for fighting. Colin Kalberer cut the Bulls lead to 2-1 with 5:11 remaining in the 1st period. Thomas Konkowski entered the Smithtown zone along the left wing wall before carrying the puck towards center where he spun away from the defender to fire a shot from the blue line that Kalberer redirected past Ryan. After 15 minutes of play the Bulls held a one goal lead. 

Gavin Bareham scored the eventual game winner with 13:29 remaining in the second stanza. A shot from the point by R.J. Pfister from the top of the left wing circle led to multiple rebound opportunities for Bareham who beat DiGirolamo far side. Sachem drew three consecutive power plays between 10:31 and 5:53 remaining in the 2nd period. Just 14 seconds into the first penalty kill, Brendan Landrigan potted a shorthanded goal to extend the lead to 3. Landrigan won the defensive zone draw back to Raymond Sherwood who made a pass off the wall for the former JV Bulls captain to skate into. Landrigan chipped it past the defender to exit the zone, before collecting the puck in neutral territory and going forehand-backhand on the breakaway. The Bulls killed off the remainder of the two minute minor as they went a perfect 3 for 3 on the penalty kill in the 2nd period.

Colin Kalberer made it a 4-2 game with 13:56 left in the 3rd period. A shot by Chris O’Hea was deflected over the net, Richie Bovich pounced on the puck beneath the goal line and made a backhand feed to Kalberer who buried it short side on a shot from the right wing dot. Brendan Landrigan completed the hat-trick with 9:10 remaining in regulation. Gavin Bareham made a pass to the net front where Landrigan caught it in his skates, kicked it to his stick and went top shelf. J.P. Dalessandro put the Bulls up 6-2 with 4:13 remaining in the period. Timmy Sellito deflected a pass to force a turnover, curled towards the left wing wall to settle it before handing it off in the slot to Dalessandro who sniped glove side high. Gavin Bareham let loose to score the seventh goal of the game for the Bulls. C.J. Guglielmo fired a slap shot from the point, Shane Reidy collect the rebound as he spun away from the net to make a backhand pass to Bareham who stepped into a howitzer from below the right wing dot.
