The University of Delaware Blue Hens erupted for a season-high 12 goals in a commanding 12-3 victory over Rowan University at Gold Ice Arena on Friday night, creating a high-scoring spectacle that saw 15 total goals light up the scoreboard. The victory improved Delaware to 12-9 on the season while dropping struggling Rowan to 1-5 in what proved to be a lopsided affair in the ECHC regular season matchup.

Michael Gibbons orchestrated the offensive explosion with a four-point performance, recording one goal and three assists to extend his impressive season totals. The senior entered the contest with 8 goals and 15 assists in 12 games and continued his playmaking prowess in the rout. Charles Allen provided the finishing touch with a two-goal, one-assist effort, building on his goal-scoring pace of 10 goals in just 8 games entering Friday’s contest.

The Blue Hens received balanced scoring throughout their lineup, with Zachary Solomon adding two goals and Alex Birchard contributing three assists to match Gibbons’ helper total. Ryan Anatra chipped in with a goal and assist, while Michael DePrisco, Shea Walsh, and Gavin Johns each recorded assists in the offensive showcase. Despite the lopsided scoreline, Delaware goaltender Ryan Crossan was tested frequently, making 48 saves on 52 shots for a solid .923 save percentage.

The victory marked a significant turnaround from the season series between these ECHC rivals, as Rowan had taken the first meeting 2-1 back in September before Delaware responded with a 5-3 win later that month. Friday’s dominant performance showcased the Blue Hens’ offensive depth and ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities against an overmatched Rowan squad that has struggled throughout the early portion of their campaign.
