Andrew Wetter scored two goals and the Dix Hills Hawks 16U Gold – Bentrewicz built their lead with a four-goal first period, beating Rinx Hockey 16U Gold – Ferraro 6-4 on Sunday at Clark Gillies Arena (Dix Hills Ice Rink). The LIAHL 16U Gold matchup was decided early. Dix Hills outscored Rinx 4-2 in the opening period and matched them goal for goal the rest of the way.
Wetter led the Hawks with his two goals. Kai Kelly, Vincent Sellitto, Christopher Quinn and Marc Parente each scored once. Quinn also served the game’s only recorded penalty, a two-minute minor.
Rinx got goals from four players: Jordan Haines, Kyle Kearney, Luke Lamacchia and Jeremy Maresca. The two sides each scored once in the second period and once in the third, so Rinx never closed the two-goal gap from the first period.
