The Steamfitters left no doubt in the Division A Championship, blitzing the Long Island Warriors – White 10-1 on Sunday at Al Arbour (Blue) Rink. Tommy Condon powered the rout with a hat trick — actually a four-goal outburst — and a five-point game, finishing with four goals and an assist to headline the Steamfitters’ title-clinching performance.
The Steamfitters wasted little time asserting control, scoring three times in the first period through Jack Johnson, Zach Josepher and Condon before the game was even 14 minutes old. Josepher’s goal at 8:42, assisted by Tommy Krotz, proved to be the game-winner. Condon opened his big night at 2:27 with helpers from Kenny Wright and Josepher, setting the tone for what would become a lopsided championship match.
The second period only widened the gap as Kenny Wright, Dylan Kirsch and Condon each found the net. Wright’s goal came off a feed from Patty Condon and Tommy Condon, while Kirsch converted a cross-ice pass from Patty Condon for a highlight-reel finish. Condon’s second goal of the game, assisted by Wright and Johnson, pushed the Steamfitters’ lead further out of reach heading into the third.
The Warriors – White got their lone goal in the third period when Jeremy scored unassisted at 12:47, briefly interrupting the Steamfitters’ surge. But Willie Shields, Joey Mione and two more from Condon closed out the scoring, with Condon capping his historic afternoon with goals at 9:33 and 7:51, both set up by Josepher and Wright, respectively. Jake Rosenthal earned the win in net allowing one goal, while Chris DeRose took the loss after allowing 10.
The victory completes a perfect 4-0 run for the Steamfitters, who entered the day unbeaten at 3-0, while the Warriors – White finish their championship bid at 2-2. Condon’s dominant five-point performance, paired with contributions across the lineup from Wright, Josepher and Patty Condon, made clear the Steamfitters were the class of Division A all summer long.
