St. Anthony’s (VR) put together a dominant offensive display Wednesday night at The Rinx – North Rink, blowing past Longwood (VR) 8-0. The result continued a lopsided season series, following a 12-0 St. Anthony’s win over Longwood back on Nov. 6.
St. Anthony’s wasted little time establishing control, scoring six times in the first period alone. Brady Monteleone opened the scoring just 11 seconds in, assisted by Gerard Nealon and Devin Curry, and the goals kept coming from there. Brody O’Doherty, Louis Cutalo IV, James Schendorf and Thomas Azzariti all found the net before the period ended, with Curry’s goal at 14:19 marking the eventual game-winner. Thomas Azzariti added a second goal in the third period at 13:29, assisted by Curry, while Monteleone also scored in the second period off assists from Michael Catizone and Cutalo IV to round out the scoring.
Anthony Frega took the loss in goal for Longwood, allowing all eight goals. The defeat dropped Longwood to 0-16 on the season, while St. Anthony’s improved to 10-5 heading into the stretch run.
With just a handful of games remaining on the schedule for both clubs, St. Anthony’s will look to keep building toward the postseason while Longwood searches for its first win of the year.
