St. Anthony’s (VR) remained undefeated with a 6-0 shutout victory over Northport/Huntington (VR) on Wednesday at The Rinx – North Rink. The win pushed St. Anthony’s to 9-0 on the season, while Northport/Huntington dropped to 3-6.
The game stayed scoreless through the first period before St. Anthony’s broke it open in the second. Anthony Scorcia opened the scoring at 3:57, assisted by James Aspromonti and Cormac Terry, and James Schendorf added a power-play goal just over a minute later off assists from Nicholas Busa and James Aspromonti to make it 2-0 entering the third.
St. Anthony’s pulled away in the final period with four more goals. James Aspromonti scored twice, first at 6:59 with an assist from Schendorf, and again at 4:41 with helpers from Schendorf and Terry, finishing with two goals and an assist on the night. Thomas Azzariti and Brody O’Doherty also found the net in the third, with Zack Sirel, Busa, and Mauricio Carrasco Jr. picking up assists.
Northport/Huntington goaltender Boden Rudloff took the loss, allowing all six goals. The result mirrored an earlier meeting between the two teams this season, when St. Anthony’s won 6-1, giving St. Anthony’s the sweep of the season series.
With the schedule winding down to just a handful of games remaining, St. Anthony’s will look to carry its unbeaten run into the stretch run, while Northport/Huntington aims to regroup before the season closes out.
