St. Anthony’s Freshman capped off their regular season in emphatic fashion, demolishing Kings Park Commack Freshman Black 9-1 at North on Saturday afternoon. The victory completed a season sweep for the Friars, who improved to 15-2 while Kings Park Commack fell to 6-12 with the lopsided defeat.
The tone was set early and often, as St. Anthony’s exploded for four unanswered goals in the opening period. Jake Evans orchestrated the offensive onslaught from the drop of the puck, recording five assists to finish with six points on the afternoon. Logan McCauley and Francesco Mannino each contributed four-point performances, with McCauley tallying a goal and four assists while Mannino netted the game-winner at 8:39 of the first period and added three helpers.
The Friars’ balanced attack proved unstoppable, with eight different players finding the scoresheet. Reginald Henry III and Lucas Hoffmann each recorded two goals, while Henry III added an assist for a three-point night. The offensive explosion was a continuation of strong individual seasons, as McCauley entered the game leading the team with 31 points in 15 games, while both Mannino and Henry III had tallied 22 and 21 points respectively.
Kings Park Commack’s struggles were compounded by discipline issues, as they were assessed five penalties totaling 23 penalty minutes compared to St. Anthony’s single minor infraction. The lone bright spot for the visitors came in the third period when Colin Skinner scored their only goal at 4:50, assisted by Brody Allstadt, but it was far too little, too late against the SCHSHL powerhouse.
With the regular season now complete, St. Anthony’s has positioned themselves as a legitimate championship contender, having outscored Kings Park Commack 20-3 in their two meetings this season. The Friars’ offensive depth and dominant play throughout the campaign will make them a formidable opponent as the postseason approaches.
