Jordan Oromaner scored twice, including the go-ahead goal early in the third period, as Northport/Huntington (VR) held off Connetquot/Sayville BBP (VR) 6-4 on Wednesday at The Rinx – North Rink. Jose Walter set up two goals and added one of his own for a three-point night, while Patrick Schmidt also found the net twice for the winners.
Connetquot/Sayville got on the board first when Carter Tomforde converted just 1:10 into the game, assisted by Joshua King and Bennett King. But Northport/Huntington took control in the second period, ripping off three unanswered goals. Schmidt struck twice within four minutes of each other, and Walter added an unassisted tally to make it 3-1 before Joseph Villani cut into the deficit with a power-play goal late in the frame.
The third period turned into a track meet. Oromaner opened the scoring with an even-strength goal at 12:40, assisted by Lucas Serino and Jacob Guzzardo, before Bennett King answered for Connetquot/Sayville to make it 4-2. Oromaner delivered the eventual game-winner at 5:18, set up by Walter, and Serino tacked on an unassisted goal moments later to push the lead to 6-2. Villani and Bennett King each had multi-point efforts for Connetquot/Sayville, and Villani capped his two-goal night with just six seconds remaining, but the rally fell short.
Boden Rudloff picked up the win in goal for Northport/Huntington, allowing four goals. Connetquot/Sayville used both Mason Dorrien and Reilly Hanley between the pipes, with Hanley taking on six goals against. The result continues a lopsided series for Northport/Huntington, who also beat Connetquot/Sayville 7-1 in their previous meeting this season. With the schedule winding down to just a few games remaining for each club, both teams will look to regroup as they push toward the postseason.
