Nicholas Mangone put up four points and scored the game-winner as Nauti Boyz Hockey Club beat the Long Island Warriors 7-4 in an exhibition Saturday at Northwell Health Ice Center. Long Island led 2-1 after one period, the game was tied 4-4 through two, and Nauti Boyz scored three unanswered in the third.
Mangone assisted on Eric Urban’s goal late in the first, then opened the second period with a goal of his own off Tom Langan and Matt Jaronczyk. He set up Urban again at 15:06 and scored the go-ahead goal at 16:28 of the third from Mark Spano. Spano finished with a goal and two assists. Jaronczyk’s power-play goal with 1:01 left in the second tied it 4-4 and was the last time the Warriors were level.
Long Island stayed with them for two periods behind Jack Sukiel, who scored in each of the first two, and Alex Dumont, who assisted on Sukiel’s second goal and on Brett Clinch’s. Jon Chevalier opened the scoring early in the first and Sukiel made it 2-0 before Urban got Nauti Boyz on the board. Clinch put the Warriors back in front at 3:15 of the second. They did not score again. Nauti Boyz took the third with goals from Mangone, Spano unassisted, and Langan off Christopher Perterkin.
Jack Sarosy stopped 63 of 67 shots for Nauti Boyz. Ritchie Rodriguez made 48 saves on 55 shots for the Warriors.
