Middle Country improved to 8-9 on the season with an 8-4 win over Kings Park/Commack Black (FR) on Sunday at The Rinx – North Rink, avenging an early-season 9-3 loss to the same opponent back on Oct. 25. The victory came with balanced scoring across the lineup, as eight different Middle Country skaters found the scoresheet.
Middle Country built its lead in stages. Jesse Verdecanna opened the scoring at 10:20 of the first period, and Zachary Maresca added a goal off assists from Faith Rivera and Dylan Dechiaro to make it 2-1 after one. The second period tilted the game further in Middle Country’s favor as Mason Lasalla and Madison Dechiaro each scored, with Dechiaro’s tally at 1:52 standing as the game-winner. Derek Johnson bookended the scoring with goals in the second and third periods, the latter coming with just 33 seconds remaining, while Dylan Dechiaro and Jack Conlon also found the net in the third to push the lead to 8-2 before Kings Park/Commack Black answered late.
