Kings Park/Commack (VR) delivered a scoring clinic Monday night at The Rinx – North Rink, routing West Islip (VR) 15-3 behind hat tricks from three different players. Ronald Kemly, Jackson Ciofrone and Brian Prange combined for 10 goals and 15 points, turning what began as a competitive opening period into a lopsided rout by the final horn.
West Islip actually struck first when William Shields opened the scoring at 11:05 of the first period. But Kings Park/Commack answered immediately, getting goals from Aaron Haberman and Ciofrone before Kemly scored twice in a 20-second span to seize control. Ciaran Pollard briefly cut into the deficit with a goal at 6:00, but Ciofrone tacked on his second of the night before intermission, and the home team led 5-2 after one.
The second period buried any hope of a comeback. Kemly, Jesse Lemza, and Prange all found the net, including a Prange power-play goal, before James Mattel notched a shorthanded goal for West Islip to make it 8-3. Kemly answered right back with a shorthanded goal of his own, and Prange closed the period with his second goal, pushing the lead to 10-3 through 40 minutes.
Kings Park/Commack poured in five more in the third period without reply, getting goals from Jack Salva, Prange, Gregory Galgano, Ciofrone and Lemza to complete the shutout frame. Kemly finished with four goals and two assists for a six-point night, while Ciofrone and Prange each tallied three goals and two assists. Jayson Krauthamer earned the win in net for Kings Park/Commack, while Tyler Sapoff took the loss for West Islip.
The win improves Kings Park/Commack to 9-3 on the season, while West Islip falls to 3-9 as both teams head into the stretch run with just a few games remaining.
