Cameron Kalberer scored four goals and added two assists to lead Sachem (VR) to an 11-3 rout of Kings Park/Commack (VR) on Friday at The Rinx – North Rink. Kalberer’s hat trick and six-point performance headlined a lopsided scoring effort that saw Sachem net at least one goal in every period.
Sachem set the tone early, scoring four times in the first period alone. Joseph Wandling opened the scoring at 2:23, and after Chase Saunders and Kalberer each found the net, Wandling struck again with three seconds remaining in the period for the game-winning goal, assisted by Kalberer and Tyler Loret. The second period turned into a track meet, with five goals scored by Sachem and three answered by Kings Park/Commack. Kevin Abrams, Joseph Mezzasalma and Jackson Ciofrone each scored for Kings Park/Commack in the middle frame, but Sachem countered with goals from Caiden Marcus, William Trapani, Kalberer again, and John Moody to take a commanding 9-3 lead into the third.
Kalberer capped his hat trick with a shorthanded goal at 10:52 of the third period, assisted by Matthew Lengyel Jr. and James Drago, before Tyler Anderson closed out the scoring for Sachem. Wandling finished with two goals and an assist for a three-point night, while Drago and Loret each tallied three assists apiece to help fuel the offensive explosion. Anthony Mare picked up the win in net for Sachem, allowing three goals, while Tyler Burke and Jackson Murray split time in net for Kings Park/Commack.
The result extends Sachem’s dominance in the season series, having also defeated Kings Park/Commack 8-1 back on Nov. 24, though Kings Park/Commack had claimed a 5-4 win over Sachem on Feb. 2. With the season winding down and just a few games remaining for both squads, Sachem will look to carry this offensive momentum into the stretch run.
