FDNY EMS rolled to a 7-1 win over Flower City on Saturday at Northwell Health Ice Center, with Dylan DePellegrin recording a hat trick to lead the offensive outburst. The victory pulled FDNY EMS even at 1-1 on the young season, while Flower City dropped to 0-2.
FDNY EMS wasted little time building a cushion, scoring twice in a 13:11 span of the first period. Eric Urban opened the scoring on assist from Dylan Nuzzi, and Dominick Gabrielle followed with an unassisted tally at the same mark. DePellegrin got in on the action later in the frame, scoring unassisted at 5:52 to put FDNY EMS up 3-0.
Flower City answered briefly in the second period when Dylan Emerson scored on assists from Chas Belfield and Joe Lusardi, cutting the deficit to 3-1. But DePellegrin took over from there, netting the game-winning goal and adding a third tally later in the period to complete his hat trick. AJ Saleme chipped in a goal of his own during the middle frame, assisted by DePellegrin, pushing the lead further out of reach.
Eric Urban capped the scoring with his second goal of the night in the third period, assisted by Kieran McGovern, who finished with two helpers on the evening. DePellegrin’s four-point performance (3G, 1A) paced FDNY EMS, while Saleme and McGovern each contributed two points. Peter Ferro picked up the win in net for FDNY EMS, allowing just one goal, while Anthony Paola took the loss for Flower City.
Both clubs will look to build momentum as the season progresses, with FDNY EMS aiming to carry this offensive surge forward and Flower City searching for its first win.
