Matt Dann netted a pair of goals to lead Kutztown University to a convincing 6-3 victory over Alvernia University on Saturday night at the Body Zone Sports/Wellness Complex. The Golden Bears’ balanced offensive attack featured six different goal scorers, with Chase Canestra contributing two assists to extend his team-leading point total.

Dann, who entered the contest with eight goals in nine games, continued his strong scoring pace by finding the back of the net twice against the Crusaders. The forward’s performance helped Kutztown build on their previous dominance in the season series, having defeated Alvernia 10-2 in their October 5 meeting. Canestra, the team’s top scorer with 17 goals and 12 assists in 16 games entering Saturday, orchestrated much of the Golden Bears’ offense with his playmaking ability.

The Golden Bears received scoring contributions throughout their lineup, as Braeden Janson, Aidan Esack, Gaven Mollenkof, and Evan Kurtas each added single tallies. Seven different players recorded assists in the victory, highlighting Kutztown’s depth and balanced attack. Goaltender Zach Ciucci anchored the defensive effort with 30 saves on 33 shots, posting a .909 save percentage to earn the victory.

The win improved Kutztown’s record to 6-15 on the season as they continue their ECHC conference campaign. For Alvernia, the loss dropped them to 1-4 in their first four games of the season, as they struggled to contain Kutztown’s potent offensive attack that has now scored 16 goals in two meetings between these Eastern Collegiate Hockey Conference rivals.
