Jaxon Volpe tallied two goals and an assist to lead Connetquot Sayville BBP Freshman Red to a commanding 7-3 victory over winless Northport Huntington Freshman Blue on Saturday at North. The win improved Connetquot Sayville to 10-10 on the season while extending Northport Huntington’s struggles to 0-18, marking their second lopsided loss to this opponent after falling 11-1 in their November meeting.
Nicholas Fielding orchestrated the offensive showcase with four points (one goal, three assists), building on his team-leading 26 points entering the contest. The Red jumped out to a 2-0 first-period lead on goals by Chace McManus and Logan Dietz, both assisted by Nate Tanzi. The second period featured explosive offensive output from both sides, with Tyler Jones netting what proved to be the game-winner at 8:00, sandwiched between tallies from Trevor Donley and Jaxon Volpe for Connetquot Sayville.
Henry Alfano provided the lone bright spot for Northport Huntington, recording two goals and an assist in the losing effort. His second-period strike at 4:32, assisted by Declan Hedger, and third-period marker at 8:49 kept his team competitive despite facing a steep deficit. Thomas Klingensmith also found the back of the net for the Blue, converting at 10:55 of the second period with helpers from Andrew Cohen and Alfano.
The third period saw Connetquot Sayville pull away definitively, as Volpe completed his two-goal night at 3:47 before Fielding capped the scoring with an empty-net goal in the final second. Despite taking five minor penalties compared to Northport Huntington’s one, the Red’s balanced attack and opportunistic finishing proved too much for their overmatched opponents to handle.
