Chris DeAngilis scored twice in the third period, including the game-winner, to lift Rucks2Pucks past FDNY EMS 5-4 in a Division C playoff clash Sunday at Al Arbour (Blue) Rink. Patrick Colgan’s hat trick kept FDNY EMS within reach throughout, but it wasn’t enough to overcome DeAngilis’s four-point night.
FDNY EMS struck first when Colgan opened the scoring at 8:03 of the first period, only for Robbie Cameron to answer for Rucks2Pucks at 11:13 with helpers from Joey Alterman and Nick Garcia. The second period saw four goals change hands, with Colgan and Matt Clancy trading strikes before Dylan DePellegrin restored FDNY EMS’s lead at 10:10. Garcia tied it right back at 8:00, setting up a tense final frame.
DeAngilis took over from there, scoring at 7:36 and again at 4:56 of the third period, both goals assisted by Cameron, to give Rucks2Pucks a two-goal cushion. Colgan wasn’t finished, completing his hat trick at 4:10 to cut the deficit to one, but Rucks2Pucks held on for the 5-4 win. DeAngilis finished with two goals and two assists for four points, while Cameron chipped in a goal and two helpers.
Sean Dykes picked up the win in net for Rucks2Pucks, allowing four goals, while Peter Ferro took the loss for FDNY EMS after allowing five. The victory improves Rucks2Pucks’ playoff push as they look to build on the momentum heading into their next postseason test.
