Natalya Chang erupted for four goals and seven points while Matthew Marino added a hat trick of his own as Manhasset/Great Neck/Port Washington demolished St. Mary’s 10-3 at Town of Oyster Bay Ice Skating Center on Tuesday night. The dynamic duo combined for seven goals and 11 points in a dominant performance that saw the visitors outscore their hosts 5-1 in the opening frame and cruise to their second victory over St. Mary’s this season.

Chang, who entered the night with 18 goals in 12 games, wasted little time making her mark with the first of her four tallies coming at 6:13 of the first period off a feed from Emmett Miller. The explosive forward assisted on all three of Marino‘s goals while adding three helpers of her own for the seven-point outburst. Marino, who had registered nine goals in his first 10 games, completed his hat trick with a power-play marker at 6:43 of the third period, capping off a four-point night that included an assist on Chang’s final goal.

The balanced Manhasset/Great Neck/Port Washington attack featured seven different goal scorers, with Ryan Miller netting what proved to be the game-winner at 4:48 of the first period. Marcus Tan and John Drouzas also found the net in the opening-period barrage that effectively decided the outcome early. Goaltender Grayson Beschel was rarely tested but made 31 saves on 34 shots for a .912 save percentage.

St. Mary’s (4-12) managed three goals from their top scorers, with George Jable and James Ciancimino each recording a goal and an assist. Jable, who entered with 13 goals in 10 games, scored at 5:54 of the second period, while Ciancimino opened the scoring for St. Mary’s just 34 seconds into the contest. Vincent Levien added an unassisted tally in the second period, but the undermanned Saints couldn’t match the firepower of Manhasset/Great Neck/Port Washington (9-6), who improved to 2-0 in the season series.
