The Long Island Warriors – White exploded for eight goals to eliminate the NYS Troopers 8-1 in a Division A playoff matchup Sunday at Bill Torrey (Red) Rink, avenging a 7-6 loss to the same club just a day earlier. Andrew Cetola and Conor Menig turned in historic nights, combining for 13 points to fuel the rout.
The Warriors set the tone early, scoring five times in the first period alone. Conor Menig opened the scoring at 8:57 and struck again at 14:25, while Kieran Baisley bookended the period with a goal at 14:37. Robert Rossi added the game-winning goal at 8:11, and Jeremy chipped in with a goal at 2:40 as the Warriors built a commanding 5-0 lead through one period. Baisley tacked on another just 13 seconds into the second period to push the lead to 6-0.
NYS Troopers finally got on the board in the third period when Justin Chazer scored at 12:25 with helpers from Christopher Kane and AJ Tarquinio, but it was far too little against a Warriors squad that refused to let up. Andrew Cetola closed out the scoring with a pair of third-period goals at 9:18 and 8:11, capping a night in which he finished with 2 goals and 5 assists for 7 points. Menig was right behind him with 2 goals and 4 assists for 6 points, and Baisley added 2 goals and an assist for 3 points of his own. Christopher Kane took the loss in goal for NYS Troopers, allowing 8 goals.
The victory improves the Warriors’ record to 3-1 and advances them in the playoff bracket, closing out this season series with the Troopers on a decisive note. Long Island will look to carry this offensive momentum from Cetola and Menig into their next round of postseason play.
