The NYPD Detectives used a four-goal outburst from George Bravo to hold off the FDNY EMS 7-4 on Friday night at Northwell Health Ice Center in LI Warriors Summer Shootout regular-season action.
Bravo opened the scoring account early, netting his first at 12:01 of the first period off a Nick Tauken assist, and never let up. He struck again at 6:55 of the opening frame, added a third just 17 seconds into the second period, and capped his night with a fourth goal at 10:35 of the third, assisted by Danny Demarco and Andrew Scampoli. Tauken also factored into the opening tally himself, scoring unassisted at 12:45 of the first before setting up Bravo’s opener, finishing with a goal and an assist.
Franco Mezzoiuso chipped in twice for NYPD, converting a power-play goal at 2:57 of the first period with help from George Antzoulis, then delivering the game-winner at 13:42 of the second on a feed from Brendan Rizzo. FDNY EMS answered with balanced scoring of its own — AJ Saleme opened their account at 11:31 of the first, Kieran McGovern found the net twice (13:13 of the second and 4:15 of the third) with assists from Dylan DePellegrin on both, and Matthew Conboy added a goal unassisted at 8:35 of the third. McGovern also picked up two minor penalties, for high sticking and tripping, but neither unit found the scoresheet on the man advantage aside from Mezzoiuso’s early power-play strike.
Goaltender Peter Ferro took the loss for FDNY EMS. NYPD will look to carry the momentum from Bravo’s big night into their next matchup, while FDNY EMS will regroup after a game
