Clark Beltram scored three goals to lead Sachem (DV) to a 6-1 victory over Connetquot/Sayville BBP Gold (DV) on Monday at The Rinx – North Rink. The Braves erased an early 1-1 tie with five unanswered goals, extending their season sweep of the SCHSHL Division to a fourth straight win over their Long Island rival.
Christian Clemens opened the scoring for Connetquot/Sayville at 6:25 of the first period, but Beltram answered less than two minutes later at 8:12 to level things at 1-1 heading into the second. From there, Sachem took over. Patrick Rodriguez put the Braves ahead for good at 9:50 of the second period with the game-winning goal, weaving through the Connetquot/Sayville defense before beating the goaltender. Lucas Finamore added a goal off an assist from Mason Lovergine, and Beltram struck again with 55 seconds left in the period to make it 4-1 through two.
The third period belonged to Sachem as well. Beltram completed his hat trick at 7:27, assisted by Kylie Russo and Joseph Fussa, before Jackson Zoob capped the scoring with a backhand goal just 43 seconds into the frame. Beltram’s three-goal performance built on a season in which he entered the night with 10 goals and 13 assists in 17 games, while Rodriguez’s tally came as he continued to round into form after posting five points in 12 games this season. Santino Amurata earned the win in net for Sachem, and Colin Loret allowed the lone goal against for the Braves. Grant Kauter took the loss for Connetquot/Sayville, with Noah Martin also seeing time between the pipes.
