Longwood White’s Brewer Spinella and Sebastian Aravena each scored three goals to lift the Bulls past Eastport-South Manor, 6-3, in a freshman division playoff quarterfinal Monday at The Rinx – North Rink, sending Longwood into the semifinals.
Longwood controlled the opening period, building a 3-0 lead on goals from Aravena, Spinella and another from Aravena, the last coming just 12 seconds before the horn. Eastport-South Manor answered in the second period, with Everett Schupp opening the scoring at 10:07 to cut the deficit to 3-1. Aravena restored order just five seconds later at 10:02, assisted by John Lechmanski, for what stood as the game-winning goal, but Kevin Beckman struck for the Sharks at 9:20 — the second ESM goal in a 47-second span — to make it 4-2. Schupp added his second of the game at 4:57 before Spinella, assisted by Brian Dillon, pushed the lead back to 5-3 by the second intermission.
The third period belonged to Longwood defensively and offensively. Spinella capped his hat trick just 27 seconds into the frame to make it 6-3, and Riley Parrales and the Bulls kept Eastport-South Manor off the board for the remainder of the period to seal the win. Parrales earned the victory in net for Longwood, while Austyn Pagano took the loss for the Sharks.
The result completes a season sweep for Longwood in the season series after Eastport-South Manor had won both regular-season meetings, including a 10-2 rout on March 11. Beckman and Schupp, who entered the game
