The Ugly Pucklings blanked the Boston Warriors (E) 6-0 on Friday at Northwell Health Ice Center, with Jay Badder finding the back of the net three times to key the offensive outburst. Anthony Gandolfi turned in a shutout in net for Ugly Pucklings, keeping Boston off the scoreboard entirely.
Badder set the tone early, opening the scoring at 10:01 of the first period on an assist from James Walkley, and Nick LaTorre added a second, unassisted goal at 4:51 to make it 2-0 through one. Badder struck again in the second period at 6:03, unassisted, before Ryan Eyester extended the lead to 4-0 at 4:11 with help from Mike Gandolfi.
Ugly Pucklings kept the pressure on in the third. Costa Spanos scored at 12:03 with an assist from LaTorre, and Badder completed his hat trick at 3:24, assisted by Renee Choe, to close out the 6-0 victory. Badder finished with three goals, while Walkley, LaTorre and Choe each contributed a helper in the win.
Boston’s Brian Winters was whistled for penalties in each period – hooking calls in the first and second, followed by a roughing minor in the third – but the Warriors could never find any answers on the scoreboard. Ugly Pucklings will look to carry this momentum into their next matchup, while Boston will regroup and search for a response.
